Michael Panfil serves as Head of Legal and Policy at Emerald AI, where he oversees the company's policy activities, regulatory engagements, and legal matters. He previously served as Sustainability Counsel at Amazon, where he helped drive the company's global energy and climate ambitions, and held senior roles at CEBA and EDF. Michael holds or has held academic appointments at The Wharton School, American University's Washington College of Law, and Howard University School of Law. He has also served in advisory and board capacities with the American Bar Association, U.S. Treasury's Financial Stability Oversight Council, and U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He holds a JD from Columbia Law School and BA from The College of Wooster.
